Step 1. Refreshing Your Social Media

Updated: Sep 1, 2019

Setting up a Business Page

Setting up (or re-working) your business page is the first thing that I want you to work on. The reason being, you will want to send people to this page when you announce your business on your personal page.Let me be clear though, with the changing algorithms, I don’t want you to measure success on your business page by how many people see each post. I want you to think of your business page like a pseudo-website that you need to organically and intentionally lead people to. You want to send people to your business page so they can decide what they want to do next.

Do they want to learn more?

Do they want to direct message you?

Do they want to join your group?

Do they want to buy from you?

Do they want to Host with you?

Do they want to join you?

Your business page should have information for someone to “creep” – meaning, that they can do a big scroll through your content and learn more about your business, your products and your services.

Tips for what to post to your Business Page before you drive traffic to it:

Welcome to my page (thanks for being here, here is where you will learn more about my products, sales going on, etc.).

Who I am (a photo of yourself with a little intro about you).

What is Kole Jax and about the jewelry2-3 posts about several of your favorite designsA post about a benefit someone gets as a host (keep it simple)

Another 1-2 posts about ways the designs have touched othersA post about an upcoming event you’re hosting (either online or in person)A FAQ post

Setting Up Your Group

Once you have these preliminary posts on your Business Page, you are one step closer to finally announcing to your warm market!

The next thing I want you to do is set up your Group. If you already have a group you can skip the next few steps (or, go through them to make sure you haven’t missed anything).

You will want to create a group that will act as your community – this is essentially the backyard of your social media house. This is where the party will happen!

Facebook also pushes group content more than any other content, so you will eventually see the most amount of engagement in here. It is very important that you have a group!

Once you’ve set up your Group, follow these steps:

Create a cover photo on canva.com or Wordswag, or use one that we've provided you in the stylist spot album. Update your description. The goal of your description is to answer as many questions as possible and give as much information as possible. Your group should always speak for you, even when you’re not “there.” That way, when someone comes to your group looking for information, they find it!

Creating a Welcome Post

The next thing you want to do is create a welcome post. This is where you will ask them to introduce themselves. You will want to make sure this post is there so that as people join your group, they have a task to do right away.

Linking Your Group to Your Business Page

The last part of your Group set up is to connect your group to your business page. You will do this in the settings of your Group Page.Once you have linked the two, go back to your Business Page and edit your Call to Action Button at the top of the page. Once you have linked your Group, the “Visit Group” will appear. Select this as your call to action button. That way, people can easily access your group, which is where all the fun content happens! Now that you have these two key areas ready to go, you can now announce your new business (or you are revamping your business) on your personal accounts.

Using Your Existing Personal Social Media

Your personal social media channels are always the best place for you to start marketing your business. Why? Because your warm market is there. Even though it won't typically be your friends and family that build your business, they will, however, help you launch it.

Your friends and family want to see you succeed. But while they will help you launch and share your posts and events at the beginning of your business, they won't continue to if you use your personal page every single day to market your business. In fact, over-posting to your personal page and for your friends and family will typically have the opposite effect. They will pull away from you more than they run to you. Because of that, your personal page should always exist to build your likability as a person while only sprinkling in exciting business news periodically.

Launching or Relaunching Your Business on Your Personal Page.

Whether you're a new sparkle boss or trying to reenergize things I want every person reading this to pretend that you're new. Why? Because I want you to start with a fresh mind, new energy, and optimism. So, here's what I want you to do on your personal page.

Post Announcement

Okay, so one of the first things to do is to announce to your current lists that you are either starting a business or relaunching your business. I'm providing a script example for you on the next page. However, be sure to make it your own. People know how you talk. Remember, these are your friends and family. If all of a sudden, you're talking like someone they don't know, you will seem insincere and spammy. Even though you will predominantly be using my new business social media pages (like your Instagram, Business Page and Group) to promote and consistently post about your new business, You want to make sure your friends and family knew about it first. Not only will they be willing to help you out at the beginning, they also have networks that you will want to tap into. Let them know your business and what you're up to. If you've been doing your business for a little while, just remind them what you're still up to.

Point them to a place where they can learn more information that is just about your business. In this post lead them to your business page or if you have a group already set up with customers in there, you can put your group as well.

Let them know how they can help. Give them ideas, for example, like shopping the site, hosting a party, sharing with a friend who may be interested, attending your launch party or an upcoming event, giving a review etc. Include FAQs you so they understand exactly what you're up to. Don't assume everyone knows what your company is or what your product is best used for. Finally, thank them again for helping you out. Remember, your friends and family care about you and genuinely want to see you succeed. Even if they send your post to one person, that's one person you didn't know.
